New York is a city of unique
neighborhoods. Over the years, it has strengthened and emerged reflective of
its housing market which has shifted from dependence on single-unit residences
to apartments, co-ops, condominiums to luxury homes. These existing structures
have resulted in a wide range of residential properties.
One neighborhood to watch out for in the New York City borough of Queens is the Long Island City. It is home to sought-after waterfront estates and convenient transportation to Manhattan. A major rezoning in 2001 generated development recovery, resulting in a series of large apartment buildings on the scenic property neighboring the East River. While the waterfront has grown tremendously over the past decade, the momentum has continued briskly and set off the slow and steady expansion eastward into the Court Square region, where several major residential buildings are going up right now.
Long Island is also known for its affluence and high quality of life. According to Forbes Magazine, Nassau and Suffolk Counties are among the top 25 richest counties in America.
