Brookville Village is one small village in New York Long Island which is just off the Long Island Expressway and about 25 miles from the midtown Manhattan. It is the home of the C. W. Post Campus of Long Island University and the Post campus's nationally known cultural venue, the Tilles Center.

Most of
the early settlers in the village of Brookville were English and Quaker. It was
only later when the Dutch moved in from the western Long Island. The village
was originally called Tappentown named after a famous family then later became
Brookville after the Civil War.
Brookville is home to
some of the most luxurious mansions in the world. The beauty of this area as well as its accessibility to New York City has attracted many wealthy city residents to the
North Shore. These people bought the farmland from the descendants of the Dutch
and English farmers to build on lavish manors with beautiful landscaping.

What Is It Like Living in Brookville
Set on a minimum of two to five acres, the houses range in age from the 1700's to present day construction. There are various horse farms in the area. Brookville lies just south of Old Brookville and is quite similar in character. The Locust Valley School District and the Jericho School District are represented. The area has numerous private country clubs which add to the lush aspect.
